An Introduction to JFK TSA
JFK Teaching School Alliance (JFKTSA) aims to support schools both locally and across the country to improve outcomes for pupils with special educational needs. To achieve this, we offer a unique and bespoke program of support to fit your needs. This encompasses accredited CPD courses, INSET/twilight training, ITT opportunities through Essex and Thames SCITT, inreach, highly personalised SEND school-to-school support packages and leadership coaching. Additionally, we work in partnership with the University of East London to deliver NASENCo training for local SEN Co-ordinators, supporting to further raise standards across the region.
JFKTSA is the teaching school arm of JFK Special School, founded in 1964 and named in honour of the former US president due to his championing of greater special educational needs provision for children and young adults. Following academisation as a founding member of the Learning in Harmony Trust in 2014, the school has gone on to deliver Ofsted outstanding provision for pupils with additional learning needs under the guidance of former Executive Head and our current NLE, Diane Rochford OBE (Rochford review, 2016), and Julie Newman & Shaun Dodds (current Co-Heads).
JFKTSA is a unique cross-phase teaching school alliance, comprising JFK Special School’s two sites, along with a number of other alliance member schools, including those in the LiH Trust. In addition, JFKTSA has a number of non-alliance member strategic partners with whom it works collaboratively on a range of projects (see Partnerships page for more details).
